Pygmalion

First 50 pages-
Honestly, i didn't like the book very much. i found alot of the "slang" that Liza said both hard to understand and just strange. I find it very hard that the two professors just happen to run into each other.    it was sort of cool how Henry Higgins could find out where the bystanders have come from only by using his knowledge of speech. they then bet that henry can't make a proper lady out of Lizza.

I think its a bit rude how Henry is mocking Lizza on her terrible grammar and manners. i understand it might be frustrating, but sometimes he his just plain rude. Im amazed Lizza stayed with the lessons all together. to compare, i believe things would have turned out better if Colonel Pickering would have given Lizza the lessons instead oh Henry. Colonel is kinder, and more patient. another thing i don't understand very well is why would Mr doolittle complain and try to stop higgins from tutoring his daughter if it will help her become successful.

I think the best couple in this story would be Freddy and Lizza, because not only are they both ignorant, but they just seem as though they would be good together. im amazed Mrs. Higgins is putting up with Henry's little "experiment". however, it does seem like Lizza was making good progress until she went on a rant about her aunt dying from influenza. Henry just might win the bet.

last 50 pages-
At this time Eliza runs off, and Higgins and Pickering start panicking and call the police. i am confused on why they are so shocked she left. she was being picked on by Higgins, and constantly talked down to. im surprised she didn't leave sooner. Even though she was making good progress it isnt worth constantly being insulted and threatened with broomstick beatings.

Mr doolittle arrives and has come into some wealth. I am a bit confused because it said that Higgins was kidding when he said he was going to write to Ezra D Wannafellar, but Mr doolittle inherited alot of wealth, and has to give as many as 6 seminars a year for the Moral Reform Society. I guess it was actually sent as a joke, but in reality it was taken seriously. I am also confused as why Mr doolittle is upset about this. It is a chance to change for the better and turn his life around. he doesnt even have to work that hard. its only 6 seminars a year.

I have to say i dont like how the play ends with the audience not knowing what Eliza ends up doing. We can assume she is going to mary freddy, but as far as taking Higgns' secrets of langage to his rival or if she opens up her own flower shop. Overall it was a bit difficult to understand because of the strange slang of Eliza, but overall not bad.
